B8 Storage – D2 Climbing Centre

With a brief to locate a building suitable for a growing climbing centre business, it was always going to be a challenge to find a building with an established D2 usage which met the character requirements of vaulted ceilings and extensive parking facilites.

Given the units location within a protected employment zone, it was a challenge to draft an application which met relevant planning criteria.

Working alongside the Council and the managing agent, the Council accepted that the length of vacancy and the benefit of establishing a new leisure facility within the area, outweighed the loss of the B8 storage unit.

Having gained full planning approval for the conversion of the building, the unit now provides a community asset which is hoping to expand within the near future.
